These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website and the provision of professional services by Wye Valley Accountants Ltd. By using our website or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Our Services

We provide professional accounting and advisory services to individuals and businesses. The specific services we provide will be set out in a separate engagement letter for each client.

Our services may include:

  • Bookkeeping and accounting
  • Tax preparation and compliance
  • VAT returns
  • Payroll services
  • Management accounts
  • Year-end accounts and statutory filings
  • Business advisory services

Client Responsibilities

When you engage our services, you agree to provide us with complete, accurate, and timely information. You remain responsible for the management of your business and for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

You must also:

  • Respond promptly to our requests for information
  • Inform us of any changes that may affect the services we provide
  • Retain your original documents and records as required by law

Fees and Payment

Our fees will be agreed in advance and set out in our engagement letter. Unless otherwise agreed, invoices are payable within 30 days of the invoice date.

We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue accounts at 8% above the Bank of England base rate. We may suspend services if payment is overdue beyond 60 days.

You will also reimburse us for reasonable expenses incurred in providing our services, such as filing fees and travel costs.

Confidentiality

We will keep all information you provide to us confidential, except where we are required by law or professional regulations to disclose it. This includes disclosures to:

  • HMRC and other regulatory bodies
  • Our professional body (ACCA)
  • The National Crime Agency (if we suspect money laundering)

Money Laundering Regulations

We are required by law to verify the identity of our clients and to report suspicious activity to the National Crime Agency. We cannot tell you if we have made such a report.

We may be unable to proceed with an engagement if we cannot complete satisfactory identity verification.

Professional Standards

We will perform all services in accordance with the standards and ethics required by ACCA and applicable law. We maintain professional indemnity insurance as required by our professional body.

Limitation of Liability

Our liability to you for any loss arising from our services is limited to the lower of:

  • £1,000,000 (one million pounds), or
  • Ten times the fees paid for the specific engagement giving rise to the claim

We will not be liable for:

  • Losses caused by inaccurate or incomplete information you provide
  • Consequential or indirect losses
  • Loss of profits or business
  • Acts or omissions of third parties

Any claim must be notified to us within 12 months of you becoming aware of the circumstances giving rise to the claim.

Ending Our Relationship

Either party may end the engagement by giving 30 days' written notice (or such other period as agreed in the engagement letter).

We may end the engagement immediately if:

  • You fail to pay our fees when due
  • You fail to provide necessary information or cooperation
  • We are required to do so by law or professional regulations

If the engagement ends, you remain liable for all fees and expenses incurred up to that date.

Document Retention

We will retain your documents and records for the period required by law and professional standards (typically 6-7 years). After this period, documents may be destroyed without further notice.

You are responsible for retaining your own original documents.

Intellectual Property

All documents, reports, and advice we create remain our property. You may use them for your internal business purposes only.

Our website is provided for information purposes only. While we make every effort to ensure the information is accurate and up to date, we do not guarantee its completeness or suitability for your particular circumstances.

The website may contain links to other sites. We are not responsible for the content of those sites or how they handle your data.

Complaints

We are committed to providing high-quality professional services. If you have any concerns about our service, please contact us immediately.

If you wish to make a formal complaint, please write to us at the address below. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and provide a written response within 28 days.

If you remain dissatisfied, you may refer the matter to ACCA or the Financial Ombudsman Service (if applicable).

General

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this website and will apply to services provided after the change.

If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
